Chiefs are all set to get Ffos Las rocking

-

IT will be a case of third time lucky when the Kaiser Chiefs finally come to Wales and perform at Ffos Las next month.

The band – whose string of UK hits include their signature anthem I Predict a Riot – had to twice postpone their show because of lockdowns during the pandemic.

Now, though, the multi-award-winning band are due to finally get on stage on Thursday, June 2, following an evening’s racing to mark the Jubilee Bank Holiday celebrations.

The Kaiser Chiefs and lead singer Ricky Wilson have got used to having to show patience. The former star of TV show The Voice had to postpone his own wedding four times last year before he finally got to tie the knot.

Now the band are back performing to live audiences again with a set that includes hit singles such as Ruby and Every Day I Love You Less And Less.

The Chiefs, who were also part of the London Olympics’ closing ceremony, are due to take to the stage at Ffos Las at around 8.45pm.

You’ll also be able to pay on the night. Sean Bowen’s fine start to the new jumps season carried on at Uttoxeter on Saturday, where he rode a double for Gloucestershire trainer Martin Keighley.

Mozzaro was completing a hat-trick of wins and is unbeaten over fences. An hour later Found On won a four-runner mares’ chase, also a third consecutive victory.

Keighley has been training for 20 years and had much his best season in 2021-22 with 43 winners – 16 partnered by Bowen.

Of the nine winners Bowen has ridden so far in the current campaign, four have been for Keighley, three for Gordon Elliott and one for his father Peter.

The horses Sam Thomas trains for Dai Walters would normally be racing in the heart of the jumps season. They don’t have too many runners at this time of year, but one of them, Paddy’s Motorbike, won at Aintree on Friday evening.

He first ran as a two-year-old in June 2014, finishing second at Chepstow over a mile. Since then, he’s won eight races, finished second six times and third six times.

He’s now aged 10 and has rarely run a bad race in 39 starts.

Walters had a second winner at Aintree when Exelerator Express scored in the three-mile handicap chase for trainer Neil Mulholland.
