Your views on: Big names ‘interested’ in new site; coastal area off limits

ALDI, Greggs and B&M are among the companies said to be interested in a new development planned in Carmarthenshire. Family-run building firm TRJ Ltd wants to redevelop its yard at Betws Industrial Park, in Foundry Road, Ammanford, into a new retail and food and drink area. Here are some of your views . . .

Emma Leanne Alder B&M would be great, not too bothered about Aldi but would be nice to have some more choices. As for Greggs, there’s already one in the town centre so this isn’t needed.

Dylan Rhys Evans Is this really needed? Ammanford is just a stone’s throw away and it’s like a ghost town with a number of empty shops that can be filled. Plenty of food stores (Tesco, Lidl, Iceland, Home Bargains, Poundland, Co-op) within a few miles without another one and do we need a B&M when we have Home Bargains and Poundland?

Pam Bruce Can’t we have a Asda? Gary Reynolds Aldi and Lidl are looking for land everywhere.

James Chriswick Jobs coming to Ammanford.

Sharon Rogers Budget shops. I can’t get excited about this. I’d really like to see a Sainsbury’s. I know there were plans for a store at Cross Hands that never materialised. There should be stores for every pocket and it works both ways.

Gareth Davies Ammanford’s been dying for years, free car park shopping would help.

PEOPLE are being warned to stay out of a large part of the sea off the Welsh coast for a period of three weeks for safety reasons. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is conducting trials off the west coast of Wales, in the Cardigan Bay area, which will include “one of the biggest weapon safety traces” used by the British Government. Paula Phipps How ridiculous, I am pretty sure there are more uninhabited areas they could train. What about the dolphins and other sealife they are disturbing/damaging/ killing? The livelihoods of people who have managed to survive the covid pandemic? Whoever allowed this should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
