CHAMPS CLOSE GAP AT SUMMIT

DEFENDING champions Trostre AFC closed the gap on leaders Pontlliw in the Premier division of the LTC Mobility Carmarthen­shire League with a 5-0 win at home over Pengelli United.

They maintained their unbeaten record in the process.

Playing their last game before the mouthwater­ing tie against Pembrokesh­ire League side Hakin United in the second round of the West Wales Intermedia­te Cup, Trostre took control with a couple of strikes from the ever-reliable Jamie Jenkins.

Also on target were Christophe­r Williams, Liam Jones and Rhys Griffiths.

Mike Hoxley scored inside a minute to give Llanerch Rovers the lead against visiting Pontarddul­ais Town Reserves, and the hosts went on to win the division two clash 7-4. He netted a second eight minutes later.

There were two goals each for Llanerch stars Jay Husbands and Gareth Davies, plus one for Liam Cooke in the 74th minute.

There were maximum points for Llandeilo Town, for whom Tom Mcarley grabbed two goals in the comfortabl­e 5-0 win at home to KRUF.

Nathan Jones and Evan Davies also found the back of the net.

When Ammanford Developmen­t arrived at Abergwili there were no white lines on the pitch and the game was postponed.

Title hopefuls Trostre AFC made it four from five in reserve division one, defeating Gorseinon Athletic 4-2 in their own back yard.

Johnny Thomas scored two, and there were also goals for Anthony James and Ryan Maides.

Llangennec­h Reserves made ground advantage count with a hardfought 3-2 win against Drefach. The influentia­l David Lewis scored Llangennec­h’s only first-half goal in the 37th minute.

Tom Smith got a second five minutes after the break, before an unfortunat­e own goal settled the outcome in the 75th minute.

There is no change at the top of reserve division two, and Felinfoel continue to set the pace after a solid 2-0 win at home to Pontarddul­ais Town A. Goals from Rhys Wills and Sean Andrews were enough to secure maximum points.

In reserve division three, a couple of goals from Matthew Jones put Caerbryn on the road to an 8-1 win at home to Llandeilo Town Reserves.

Apart from being gifted an own goal, others to get their names on the scoresheet were Josh Howells, Josh Davies, Darren Jones, Ethan Milligan and Keelan Vaughan. Dylan Thomas could afford the luxury of missing a penalty.

In the third round of the Senior Cup, striker Jordan Badman had a field day with four goals in helping Felinfoel defeat a young Drefach side 10-0 in their away tie.

Dylan Austin chipped in with two goals, there was an own goal, plus one apiece for Sam Ashford, Chris James and Stuart Newson.

Also through to the next round are FC Carmarthen, who beat visitors West End United for the first time in five attempts, 7-0.

Lewis Byng opened their account in the second minute, and there was a first-half hat-trick for the excellent Osian Thomas. Ryan Evans and Ashley Williams, plus an own goal, rounded off the scoring.

Llangennec­h had to work much harder before making it through 3-2 at home to CK Swiss Valley Reserves. Liam Griffiths scored in each half – one a penalty in the 20th minute – while Callum Morgan struck a minute before the break.

Trallwm reached the third round of the West Wales Intermedia­te Cup with a 3-1 win at Resolven. Christophe­r Ferrier, Elliott Jones and Stephen Evans sealed their progress,

But it wasn’t a great day for other Carmarthen­shire League clubs. Premier division sides Loughor Rovers and Pwll Athletic – plus West Wales Premier League outfit Pontarddul­ais Town – were all knocked out.

Loughor were tipped for a good cup run but were beaten 3-2 at Pennar Robins. Connor Willis scored two for the Pembrokesh­ire hosts, with Phil Thompson also on target.

It took 120 minutes to settle the outcome between Brynawel and visiting Pwll. It was 2-2 at 90 minutes and finished 7-3 in favour of the Swansea side after extra-time.

hero with a hat-trick. Ollie Mclean scored two and there were also goals for Jack Hammacott and Cameron Webb.

A goal by Tom Richards was enough to secure a 1-0 win for Treboeth United against visiting Pontarddul­ais. Trallwm lost 1-0 at Resolven.

A hat-trick by Ryan Gibbons helped Swansea side Plough Colts defeat visiting Caerbryn 9-1. Kyle Campbell, Nayan Green, David Murray, James Gluyas, Gareth Phillips and Jackson Brereton also netted.

Fellow Swansea side CRC Olympic beat Crown Park Suburbs 15-2. Kristian Lacy scored four of their goals, with Robert John and Chris Fisher both claiming hat-tricks.

Tom Coe scored two and Ashley Twigg, Rhys Whitelock and Callum Fuge also netted.
