Free winter clothes Coats, jackets, jumpers, scarves, hats and gloves for anyone in need every Wednesday from 9.30am-11.30am in St Mary’s Church, Burry Port. Donations of these items would be gratefully received and added to the clothes rail. Please leave any donations in the porch of St Mary’s Church. Thank you. Everyone is welcome. Annual Christmas rally On Wednesday, December 28, Pembrey Circuit will be staging their annual Christmas Rally Stages event. Tickets will be available to purchase on the day from just £10. One last motorsport fix before the year is out. Toboggan By Night At the Ski and Activity Centre, Pembrey Country Park, from December 9-22 from 5pm-8.30pm. Ride the toboggans around the magical Christmas lights. No booking required, just pay at the ski centre.

Santa’s Post Box Thanks to Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council the post box is now available outside the council offices at the Memorial Institute. Children, post your letters and receive a reply; don’t forget your return address. Woodland Trust Free Trees You can collect your free tree on Saturday at Paddock Street Community Centre, Llanelli SA15 2RU from noon to 4pm. Volunteers will be on hand to give you advice on which tree suits your garden and how to look after it. If you haven’t space you can ask the Woodland Trust to plant one for you.

Burry Port Opera We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-9pm in the Memorial Hall (except bank holidays). All new members are welcome. Singers, particular­ly men, and non-singers needed with other skills, stage sets, costumes, etc. For enquiries please call Bob on 01554 833630.

Burry Port Male Choir We rehearse at 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding bank holidays) usually at the Burry Port Memorial Hall or small Pensioners Hall (subject to change). If you want to sing and join a great group of men,come along to the rehearsal. Nothing to worry about as there is no audition.

Craft and Coffee Burry Port Town Council has these sessions every first Wednesday of each month in the Memorial Hall from 10.30am12.30pm. Craft, coffee, cake and company, demonstrat­ions, workshops, meet new people, learn a new craft. £2 per person to include craft supplies. Harbour Music and Poetry Our open mic weekly sessions are 7.30-10.30pm at Burry Port Yacht Club. It is a community project enabling people of all ages and abilities to share their musical and literary skills. All warmly invited. Lighthouse Library Bookswaps Bookswaps is open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Usual hours are Mondays 4pm-6pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, 2nd and 4th Fridays of month 9.30am-12noon and 4pm-6pm, 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Donations of books are temporaril­y restricted. There is a children’s cosy corner. Jigsaws £2 each, children’s gift bags of books and toys from £3, but most items in the library are free. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteers. Short mat bowls The Pembrey and Burry Port club meet on Tuesdays at 7pm and Thursdays from 1-3pm in the Pembrey Community Centre, Mountain Road, SA16 0AJ and invite you to try a free taster session. Welsh conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun, 1-3pm. Ty Golau Dementia Charity Trust Ty Golau therapeuti­c group for people with memory problems meet every Monday morning from 10.30am-noon at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Every session is specifical­ly aimed to stimulate the brain in a non-threatenin­g, fun way. Refreshmen­ts are included in the cost of £5 for service users and £1 for carers/family members. Cefn Sidan U3A December meetings start as follows: today (Wednesday, December 14) is the coffee morning at 10.45am with book swap available and the whist group at 2.30pm at the Neptune. Thursday, December 15, the luncheon club are at the Caufields for 1pm. Friday, December 16, the cycle group meet at 10.30am at the Blue Mussels at the harbour and at 2pm the crochet and arts group meet. Tuesday, December 20, the short walk group meet at station bus stop at 2pm. Due to the Christmas season the following groups are all cancelled: Welsh history, quiz, discussion, creative writing, drama, silver screen, and musical gems. Food Forward Food Boxes Collaborat­ing with Fareshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. Open every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 and £20. No referrals required.
