ATHLETES STAR ON HOME TERRITORY

-

THE John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League, one of the most popular grassroots leagues of its kind in the UK, returned to West Wales for the sixth time.

More than 1,000 runners of all abilities descended on Pembrey Country Park. Races featured from the under11s right up to the seniors and masters categories.

Carmarthen Harriers hosted fixture three of the season before the league visits Margam Park and Pontypool Park in the new year.

Competitors, coaches, team managers, officials and spectators from more than 40 clubs travelled to the venue from across South Wales and the South West of England.

On a demanding course that showcased the park and the surrounding areas, competitors aged from nine to 80 tackled fast grass sections, hills, sand dunes, woods and paths.

Carmarthen Harriers and Llanelli Athletics Club enjoyed success at their local park.
