NAAFI coffee morning for the Armed Forces community at the Ashburnham Hotel between 10am-noon on the last Wednesday of every month, the next one on January 25. Nothing to join, just come and have a coffee and chat.

Shogun Cymru has started a mainstream class (mixed 7yrs+) in Glan-y-mor School gymnasium, Burry Port, every Wednesday at 6.30pm. To book your place, please contact Shogun Cymru on Facebook messenger or Instagram.

Burry Port Opera We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-9pm in the Memorial Hall (except bank holidays). All new members are welcome. Singers, particular­ly men, and non-singers needed with other skills, stage sets, costumes, etc. For enquiries please call Bob on 01554 833630.

Burry Port Male Choir We resume rehearsals tomorrow at 7pm in the Burry Port Memorial Hall. We rehearse at 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding bank holidays) usually at the Burry Port Memorial Hall or small Pensioners Hall (subject to change). If you want to sing and join a great group of men, come along to the rehearsal. Nothing to worry about as there is no audition.

Harbour Music and Poetry Our open mic weekly sessions are 7.30-10.30pm at Burry Port Yacht Club. It is a community project enabling people of all ages and abilities to share their musical and literary skills. All warmly invited. Lighthouse Library Bookswaps We will no longer open on a Monday evening through the winter. Open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, second and fourth Fridays of month 9.30am-noon and 4pm-6pm, first and third Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Bookswaps is open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop.donations of books are temporaril­y restricted.there is a children’s cosy corner. Jigsaws £2 each, children’s gift bags of books and toys from £3, but most items in the library are free. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteer.

Ty Golau Dementia Charity Trust Ty Golau therapeuti­c group for people with memory problems meet every Monday morning from 10.30am-noon at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Every session is specifical­ly aimed to stimulate the brain in a non-threatenin­g, fun way. Refreshmen­ts are included in the cost of £5 for service users and £1 for carers/family members. Tuesday, January 17, is Welsh History at 10.30am on Paxton the Landscape of Middleton Hall and later at 2pm the short walk group meet at the station bus stop. Wednesday, January 18, the quiz group meet at 2.15pm in the Neptune. There is no Luncheon club until February. Friday, January 20, the cycle group meet at 10.30am by the Blue Mussels at the harbour and later the Crochet/knitting/arts group is at 2pm (bring your own items). Monday, January 23, is the drama group meeting at 2pm. Please come along as we need new members front and back stage. Tuesday, January 24, is the Silver Screen trip by the 11.55am bus to the Odeon, Llanelli (see Odeon website for film) cost is £3.50 if prebooked or £4.50 at the door which includes a drink and biscuit. Wednesday, January 25, is the Musical Gems group at 2pm. Thursday, January 26, is the discussion group at 2pm. New U3A members will be most welcome to meetings in the new year. Food Forward Food Boxes Collaborat­ing with Fareshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. Open every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 and £20. No referrals required.
