Porthhyrhyd and Llanddarog Pensioners Society

-

THE society met at Neuadd Fach for the first time in 2023 with Angela greeting members and introducing the three guest panelists, Cllr Ann Davies, Rev Dewi Roberts and Huw Voyle-williams.

There were many questions posed by Angela on behalf of members, from resolutions to what three items you would take to a desert island, with holidays, fashion, embarrassing moments and reincarnation coming between, amongst others. They all revealed interesting and humorous replies which were enjoyed by all present.

Angela thanked the panel on our behalf and refreshments were then served with thanks to the tea hostesses.

There were 28 people present and apologies given for a further 14. Marion read the minutes of the November meeting which were approved and signed. Since the December luncheon in the Bread of Heaven, Pontyates, with entertainment following the meal which had been greatly enjoyed, Angela reported that Marion had been in hospital with a ruptured appendix and Marie Seymour had had an operation on her wrist, both present and recovering, whilst Margaret Jones had broken her ankle in two places and was recovering at home.

Vilna reported there were now 41 going on the Bodlelwyddan holiday from May 1 to 5, all deposits paid and the balance of £319 due by April 4. Also, the monies due for Shrek would be collected at the February 7 meeting.

There were no birthday people this month. Next month’s speaker is to be Dr Sheikl Ahmed on Poisons to Prescriptions, which should be very interesting and enjoyable.

The raffle given by Barbara was drawn and won by Marion. Vilna announced the tea hostesses for February and Angela then concluded the meeting.
