Garden Club On Monday, February 6, there is a meeting of the Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening Club at 7.15pm in the Community Hall, Pembrey. There is a talk on Incredible Edibles and a Seed Library all for £3 at the door for non-members,and £2 for members which includes refreshmen­ts and a raffle ticket. Craft group Every Monday at the Leslie Griffiths Centre, Burry Port Methodist Church, from 1.30pm-3.30pm. Join in with a project, bring your own or come for a chat. Refreshmen­ts available. Newcomers always welcome.

Lighthouse Library Bookswaps World Book Day is on March 2. From the start of February we will have a rail with costumes for you to purchase at a small charge. We are pleased to take donations of clean costumes when open. We will no longer open on a Monday evening through the winter. Open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, second and fourth Fridays of month 9.30am-noon and 4pm-6pm, first and third Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Bookswaps is open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Donations of books are temporaril­y restricted. There is a children’s cosy corner. Jigsaws £2 each, children’s gift bags of books and toys from £3, but most items in the library are free. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteer.

NAAFI coffee morning for the Armed Forces community at the Ashburnham Hotel between 10am-noon on the last Wednesday of every month. The next one is today. Nothing to join, just come and have a coffee and chat.

Shogun Cymru Mainstream class (mixed 7yrs+) has started in Glan-y-mor School gymnasium, Burry Port, every Wednesday at 6.30pm. To book your place, please contact Shogun Cymru on Facebook Messenger or Instagram.

Coffee mornings The coffee morning on February 7 in Jerusalem Vestry is cancelled due to the fact that the boiler is broken so we will have no heating.

Burry Port Opera We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-9pm in the Memorial Hall (except bank holidays). All new members are welcome. Singers, particular­ly men, and non-singers needed with other skills, stage sets, costumes, etc. For enquiries please call Bob on 01554 833630.

Burry Port Male Choir We have resumed rehearsals at 7pm in the Burry Port Memorial Hall. We rehearse at 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding bank holidays) usually at the Burry Port Memorial Hall or small Pensioners Hall (subject to change). If you want to sing and join a great group of men, come along to the rehearsal. Nothing to worry about as there is no audition.

Welsh conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun, 1pm-3pm. (The quiz has resumed on Tuesdays at 8pm; advisable to book due to limited space and tables.) Ty Golau Dementia Charity Trust Ty Golau therapeuti­c group for people with memory problems meet every Monday morning from 10.15am for 10.30am until noon (except bank holidays) at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Every session is specifical­ly aimed to stimulate the brain in a non-threatenin­g, fun way. Refreshmen­ts are included in the cost of £5 for service users and £2 for carers/family members. Food Forward Food Boxes Collaborat­ing with Fareshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. Open every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 and £20. No referrals required.
