FIVE-STAR LEON STARS IN DERBY

-

THE Gwendraeth Valley derby in division one of the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League was dominated by Drefach, who beat visiting Kidwelly Town 7-0.

Leon Bonifacio shot Drefach ahead in the 12th minute, then doubled the advantage three minutes later. Bonifacio broke through for a third time to complete his hat-trick in the 38th minute before Jo Thomas made it 4-0 at half-time.

Not satisfied with a hat-trick, Bonifacio scored another two in the 67th and 88th minutes. Chris Amos also netted.

In the only other game in the division, Caerbryn moved into second in the table following a hard-fought 2-1 win at home to leaders Camford Sports.

When Simon Jones was shown the red card in the 39th minute it looked as if Caerbryn would be up against it, but three minutes later Camford’s Jack Roberts was also given his marching orders to make it a level playing field once again.

Goals from Oliver Dymond and Stevie Evans were enough to secure the three points for Caerbryn.

In division two, Ammanford AFC Development beat KRUF 8-2. Rhodri Bowen and Iwan Matthews both claimed hat-tricks, with Yusuf Aslam and Fin Jeffries also on the scoresheet.

James Doel scored two of the goals as West End United beat Pontarddulais Town Reserves 3-2. Daniel Doyle was also on target.

Samuel Godwin and Jay Jones replied for Pontarddulais.

Playing their first league game since October 22, Ferryside showed no rust and kept their unbeaten record intact with a comfortable 3-0 win at CK Swiss Valley Reserves.

Ferryside were in control for most of the 90 minutes and made the pressure count with goals from Robert Hammond, Liam Jones and Scott Thomas.

In the Premier division, it is tough going right now for Pengelli United. After losing their previous game 8-2 against visiting Loughor Rovers, there was more pain in the 12-1 defeat at home to title challengers Seaside.

Joel Andrews helped himself to six goals. There was a hat-trick for Kieran Dawe, plus goals for Jordan Finnigan, Steve Stone and Joey Lloyd.

Dafen Reserves are through to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup following a 4-2 win at home to battling Llandovery Town.

Zach Tinnuche capped an outstanding display with two of the goals for Dafen, and there was one each for Ryan Davies and Jamie Phillips.

The hard-working Chris Hyde scored both the Llandovery goals – one a penalty – but it wasn’t quite enough.

FC Carmarthen are also through to the last four after winning 3-2 at Evans & Williams Reserves. Tom Walters scored twice, with Lewis Byng firing home an 85th-minute penalty to win the contest.

In the first round of the Darch Cup, Owen Cartwright netted twice for Gorseinon Athletic Reserves in their 4-1 win against visiting Johnstown Reserves. The other two goals were scored by Richard Quinn and Dane Evans.

In an amazing game in reserve division one, Dafen Reserves came from 3-0 behind to beat Loughor Rovers A in their own back yard 4-3. But that doesn’t tell the whole story.

In a tactical switch, after playing goalkeeper in the first half, Liam Jenkins switched to an attacking role after the break and scored two goals. Richard Stephens and Richard Broad also netted to complete the fightback.

There was no indication of what was to come when Loughor A swept into a three-goal lead courtesy of Ryan Howells, Chris Corteen and Isaac Thorne.

Two goals by Cody Stephens were enough to earn Seaside Reserves a 2-0 win at home to Drefach Reserves, while Curtis Roberts scored in the 33rd minute in helping Llangennech Reserves defeat visitors Burry Port Reserves 1-0.

Going great guns in reserve division two are Trallwm, and Jordan Fuge with a hat-trick was the hero in their 3-0 win at Tumble United Reserves.

And there were maximum points for Loughor Rovers Reserves, who proved too strong when winning 6-0 against Pontarddulais Town A on their own ground.

Dave Mcewan scored two for Loughor, and there were also goals for Morgan James, Ben Martin, Shaun Jones and Laith Hazell.

FC Carmarthen Reserves beat Felinfoel Reserves 3-0. Goals were scored by Robert Maynard, Steffan O’leary and Martin Lewis.

In reserve division three, Ethan Jones grabbed two of the goals for Caerbryn in a 5-2 win at CK Swiss Valley A. Also on target were Adam Rowe, Chris Williams and Eirian Sinclair.
