Swiss Valley back on track after barren spell

-

CK Swiss Valley beat Giants Grave 3-1 for their first win in seven games in the Macron West Wales Premier League.

Joni Hartson (2) and Dan Lemon got their goals, the Briton Ferry side replying through their top scorer Ben Wayman, with a penalty, his seventh league goal of the season.

Current leaders Evans & Williams eased past Cwm Wanderers with a 5-0 win in the Swansea Valley to stay at the top of the table, though the chasing pack have several games in hand.

Bruno Forkuoh (2) took his league total to nine, with further goals from Michael Murphy (2) on his Albies debut and captain Mark Howells completing the rout.

Penlan won 3-2 at Pontarddulais Town, who saw the return of their management team. Joel Beynon also returned last week to Bont from a brief spell at Carmarthen Town.

Penlan opened the scoring on eight minutes through Luke Edwards but Bont grew in confidence and equalised through Beynon, who got on the end of a ball from Jack Harding in the 24th minute.

The scoreline was not level for long as Edwards scored from a well-taken free-kick to give Penlan a 2-1 half-time lead.

An even second half saw Jaye Tebay put Penlan 3-1 ahead with a top corner strike before Beynon scored a late second for Bont, but Penlan held on for a deserved three points that keeps them in the mix for a second successive WWPL title.

Morriston Town won 2-0 at Coed Gwilym Park against Clydach to maintain their involvement in the Macron West Wales Premier League title race.

It was an excellent, welldrilled performance from the away side, who controlled proceedings to the extent that their keeper Huw Jones was a virtual spectator throughout.

It was Morriston’s fifth clean sheet from their 11 league games. Clydach drop to fourth place but within touching distance of a top-two finish.

First-half goals came from Town captain Samm Harrison, from the penalty spot, and Steff Pryce, who got on the end of a Harrison pass on 30 minutes. His first attempt was saved by Clydach keeper Dean Morgan but Pryce reacted quickly to calmly slot in the rebound.

This Saturday, with four WWPL clubs in West Wales Cup action, Morriston Town and Clydach have an opportunity to close the gap on leaders Evans & Williams when they take on CK Swiss Valley and Pontarddulais Town respectively.
