Tea and cake is available at Cwmgors Community Centre on the first Wednesday of every month, admission just £1.50.

Knit and Nat Club We are the charity Knit and Nat Club, and we meet at Y Lolfa, New Road, Gwaun-cae-gurwen (Community Library), every Wednesday from noon to 2pm. We also welcome new members or home knitters with mobility issues (transport can be arranged if required). Our present project is knitting poppies to remember the fallen and to acknowledg­e our village veterans,so we can decorate the local soldier monument on Remembranc­e Sunday. Recent beneficiar­ies of our knitting have been baby clothes for the prem-babies of Ukraine and also Singleton and Glangwili hospitals, Women’s Aid Carmarthen,and Cwmgors and Brynamman Churches’ Plant Dewi charity. The only thing we ask is to bring along your own wool.

Sunday entertainm­ent continues at Cwmgors Rugby Club at the weekend,when the free band offering is Kill The Lights on Sunday. Techniques­t visit Pupils of GCG School, years 3,4,5,and 6, as part of their concept work this term, will be visiting Techniques­t on Friday, May 17 to take part in a wide range of educationa­l and fun activities between 9am and 3pm. Contributi­ons of £20 can be made via Parentpay.

Coffee morning The next Flying Start coffee morning to be held at Ysgol Gwaun-cae-gurwen will be on Monday, May 13.

Macmillan cancer darts fundraiser Tai’rgwaith Community Hall recently held a fundraisin­g charity darts event, which raised a grand total of £1,503.65. Grateful thanks to everyone who helped, donated, played and supported the Macmillan Cancer Day and especially to our sponsor Jason Howells and to Emyr Jones who organised the day and whose idea it was originally. You managed to smash the target. Thanks also to our young players who helped us reach the 100,000 points over the day.

Class photos will be taken at Gwaun-caegurwen Primary School on Friday.

Scholastic Book Fair Between Tuesday, April 30, and Friday, May 10, there will be a Scholastic Book Fair in Gwaun-cae-gurwen School Hall. These are

new English-medium books provided by the publishing company Scholastic and can be bought in school. The school will also receive free new books, depending on how many books are purchased.

Cwmgors RFC will be playing at Parc y Werin on Saturday, when they welcome visitors Baglan RFC. Cwmgors’ final two games of the season will be on Wednesday, May 8, away against Bryncethin (7pm), and on Saturday, May 11, at home against Nantymoel.
