Dafen face tough Penarth start

DAFEN Welfare will take to the road on Saturday as they embark on life in the South Wales Premier Cricket League.

The Llanelli side were promoted to division two of the Premier League last summer after being crowned champions of the South Wales Cricket Associatio­n.

This year represents a new challenge and they get their campaign started with a trip to Penarth.

Ammanford will be looking to prolong their lengthy stay in division one of the South Wales Premier League. They get their campaign under way with a home against new boys Usk. Pontarddul­ais head to Pentyrch. Carmarthen Wanderers will have the benefit of home comforts as they make their return to the South Wales Cricket Associatio­n.

The Wanderers’ spell in division two of the South Wales Premier League came to an end last year when they were relegated. Now they return to the SWCA and first up is a home clash with Briton Ferry Town as they look to make a flying start to the season.

Llanelli, another side who have featured in the South Wales Premier League in the last few seasons, are on the road in their first encounter.

The Stradey Park side will make the short trip to Bronwydd.

Llandysul face a trip to Tata Steel, while Gorseinon head to Baglan.

In division two, Felinfoel will be looking to hit the ground running when they visit Briton Ferry Steel. Drefach are at home to Skewen and Llangennec­h head to Porthcawl.

Two Gwendraeth Valley clubs will be hoping to be fast out of the blocks in division four. Kidwelly are at home to Dunvant, with Pontyberem heading to Llandarcy.
