Forgiveness at last

His presence

The medium described Dad perfectly – even how he’d died.

‘He wants to say sorry for everything he put you through,’ she said.

Tears streamed down my face.

Dad was finally admitting how badly he’d treated me.

I felt his presence again, and how terrible he felt for the pain he’d inflicted.

‘I forgive you, Dad,’ I sobbed.

After that, Dad came through mediums several times to apologise.

Then, in July 2007, I was going through a divorce and hit rock bottom.

One night, I was woken by someone at my bed.

‘Dad,’ I gasped, staring clearly at his ghost. ‘I know you’re going through a bad time,’ he whispered. ‘I’m here to protect and comfort you.’ Warmth enveloped me, like he was wrapping loving arms around me, hugging me for the first time. After a couple of minutes, he faded away. Gulping down sobs, I realised it was the first time he’d ever been there for me. At last he’d been a proper dad.

Closure

Dad’s visit gave me the strength to carry on and I picked myself up, got on with my life. Determined to use my experiences to help others, I started work as a psychic clairvoyant, tarot reader and spiritual counsellor.

I’ve not seen Dad’s ghost since, but I don’t need to. I feel him around me. I know he’s there for me and that’s all that matters. Forgiveness is a blessing. And while I couldn’t forgive Dad when he was alive, I forgave his spirit.

It brought me closure, allowed me to move forward and help others.

I’ve now been with my partner, Gary, 52, for seven years and we live in a lovely cottage.

Finally, I’m happy. And Dad and I are both at peace. rather than their parent unloving. To believe otherwise is far too scary as the grown-up, no matter how damaged, is still their protector. No little one can survive alone. The legacy is that the attempt to heal that hurt is a lifelong quest, as Trish has testified. Punishment and humiliation are horrors that no youngster should bear, but for a proud Leo such as Trish, they can leave a deeper wound. It was impossible to heal this hurt in her father’s lifetime – but his reaching out from Spirit has offered both peace. I salute you, Trish.’
