Stroke of good fortune Our amazing
Monica Troughton, 62, from Leamington Spa Three readers open up
It’d been a strange morning… I’d woken up feeling at odds with myself.
I drove to my teaching job on autopilot, and asked the pupils to open their books.
At least, that’s what I thought…
The look on their faces said otherwise. Despite a headache, after some water, my speech returned to normal.
The head teacher sent me home, but I was sick, so drove to hospital instead.
‘You’ve had a stroke,’ I was told after a brain scan, and an ambulance took me to University Hospital Coventry.
On the way, I thought I heard the paramedics speaking to me…
‘It’s time, Monica – we’re taking you to a new level.’
Then I saw flashing images – I was 9 years old and my mother had taken me to see a medium. ‘You’ve been chosen,’ the medium said. ‘Don’t be afraid. You’ll be of service to people.’ Then the paramedic’s face morphed into the medium’s. I was so confused. Within days, I was home, but I felt different – my strength had gone, I’d lost the will to argue with my daughter and I had to listen more. I had to relinquish all control over any situation I didn’t like. During my recovery, I’d been forced to review my life. The mistakes, being cruel to people… I also had premonitions. Best of all, I could sense what people were thinking, feeling. After eight months, I returned to work. ‘You’ll help stressed people,’ my head teacher said. I could use my listening skills and deep inner knowing. Now my life makes more sense than ever. I’ve made a deep spiritual connection and I know the best is yet to come.
