Chat It's Fate

A cheeky ghost pinched my bum!

I had a chat with the Queen of England! Gayle Force, 63, from St Austell, Cornwall

T

he ancient stone seat was bathed in sunshine. Sitting down gently, I sighed happily. It was a fine summer afternoon in 2005, and I was being filmed while I held a paranormal investigation at Elizabethan manor house Boringdon Hall near Plymouth, Devon. Ready for a breather, I sat in the gardens, looking across the lawn at the honeycoloured mansion. That’s when something incredible happened. The spirit of a woman dressed in Tudor clothing materialised outside the house. She’d walked through one of the thick stone walls! I stared, astonished, as she glided gracefully across the lawn in my direction. She was young and pretty, wearing a long cream dress, a translucent mesh veil over her face. ‘A spirit lady is walking towards us,’ I told my husband Vince who was helping me, and taking photos.

Orb energy

As a medium, I knew the spirit and I would be able to link minds, speak to each other telepathically. Who are you? I asked her. IÕM Jane, she replied. When I said her name to the film crew, she got annoyed.

‘Lady Jane Grey,’ she corrected me haughtily.

The spirit was the famous Nine Day Queen, who’d ruled England for just nine days in July 1553, when she was 15.

But after Mary Tudor was made queen instead, Lady Jane was imprisoned in the Tower of London.

Tragic Jane was convicted

of high treason and beheaded in February 1554. Lady Jane sat beside me. ‘I learned all about you at school,’ I told Lady Jane. ‘You’re one of my favourite historical figures.’

When she looked puzzled, I realised she didn’t understand.

I told her we were in different time periods.

‘It would be lovely if we could capture a picture of your energy,’ I said.

Just then, a cameraman said he got a picture of an orb – Lady Jane’s energy.

Then she faded away. Lights twinkled where she’d sat.

Guest

Lady Jane Grey wasn’t the only famous historical figure I saw.

Later that day I was walking down a corridor inside the manor. Spirits in ornate Elizabethan clothes kept floating past. Suddenly I spotted a woman in a dark gown with a collar sticking up. She was tiny, with red hair and a face whitened with heavy make-up. On the walls around us were portraits of the same woman. ‘Elizabeth I!’ I exclaimed. Apparently, Boringdon Hall once belonged to Henry Grey, Lady Jane’s dad. Jane would’ve lived there as a child. And Elizabeth I was a regular guest.

Tragic

But it’s not just famous people I come across…

Once I went to investigate at a pub after the landlady told me she often heard spirits arguing in the living quarters.

At the bar was the spirit of an elderly man in a cloth cap.

‘Cheers!’ he said, raising his glass of whisky.

When I told the landlady his name, she gasped.

‘He was one of my regulars until he died two years ago,’ she smiled.

In the kitchen, I could smell a lovely meal cooking.

‘There’s the spirit of a brilliant chef,’ I said.

Suddenly I jumped. The chef had pinched my bottom!

When the naughty cook materialised in front of me, he was grinning! Tall and broad, in a white shirt and trousers and a chef’s hat. He pinched my bum again. ‘Stop it, you cheeky bugger!’ I scolded, trying not to laugh.

But there was also a tragic spirit in the pub – the ghost of a man who was bricked up in the walls and left to die.

I cleansed the place of the spirits bothering the landlady.

A film crew was with me, and footage of the investigation was later seen as far afield as Australia.

The pub has since been converted into apartments. I often wonder how the new residents get on with all the ghosts on the site!

Spirit world

I’ve been a professional medium, healer, and teacher for almost 30 years.

I give readings and healings, and hold workshops and paranormal investigations. I’ve read for celebrities including actor The Rock.

And I’ve made numerous films and radio programmes, including working with top Radio One DJ Scott Mills.

It’s such a privilege to be able to help people who need guidance, or help the bereaved contact their lost loved ones.

The spirit world works with unconditional love, and so do I.

I’ve had so many incredible experiences in the past.

But meeting two famous historical queens in one day? That’s something one will never, ever forget!
