A new life
Three days later, I woke up in hospital.
I’d suffered a fractured skull and had been in a coma all that time.
At that moment, I vowed to flee my dreadful situation as soon as I could and make a new life for myself.
I left school at 15 and by 20 I was married.
I tied the knot young as it was the only way I knew of leaving my dreadful home life.
I became a pub landlady, but even then I couldn’t escape my past.
Every night when I locked up, I’d see a ball of smoke at the end of the bar.
At the same time, the atmosphere in the pub would turn icy cold.
I discovered that when the pub was built, a builder had been killed by falling masonry in the same spot where the ball of smoke appeared.
Control
I began to realise that my psychic side was part of me and instead of pushing it away, I had to work with it. Seeing and hearing things that others couldn’t didn’t mean I was bonkers, but I needed to learn to gain control. Years on, I’ve done that and am much happier. I’m now divorced and have two sons, aged 32 and 27. I’m also a grandma. My two children have inherited my psychic gifts.

Meanwhile, my mum is now 78, while Dad is 85. Mum lives in a nursing home and I go and see her every two weeks. I don’t hate her, but nor do I feel love for her. She’s hurt me, but she’s still my flesh and blood. The demon is still with her, but she’s too weak now to be a threat. As a way of coming to terms with my past, I’ve penned novels featuring a character called Megan, who’s had similar experiences to me. Since publishing the first one, I’ve had letters from all around the world thanking me for sharing my story. By offering support to others, I’ve finally been able to put my own demons to bed. These days, I live only with my angels.
