Change of life

Tricia Bamsey, 69, from Hawley

On an American flydrive in 1998, me and my hubby Niven had close shaves of the spooky kind…

As we were driving along one day, I heard a man’s voice warn, ‘Be careful!’.

Seconds later, we hit a flooded stretch of road.

Thankfully, I’d told Niven in time…

A couple of days on, we were headed for the Canyon de Chelly when, traffic police stopped us.

‘Be careful around that corner,’ they said.

We slowed down, and as we did, we saw people standing in the road ‘We could have hit them,’ I shuddered. Turning to thank the officer, he’d vanished! Niven, 69, called me ‘the old witch’ as my instincts had a habit of coming true. Growing up agoraphobic, leaving the house terrified me. But, at almost 50, I braved a clairvoyance evening with psychic Keith Charles. There, I realised the constant chatter in my head wasn’t something everyone experienced. So, after our American tour, spurred on by our encounters, I joined a spiritualist group and began training in tarot. Reaching my mid-50s, my gift got stronger, with spirits coming through more clearly. Through my studies, I learnt psychic abilities often develop when the body’s changing, so childhood, puberty and menopause. ‘That’s why I got so many messages on our travels,’ I told Niven. I was going through the change of life – literally and spiritually. I’ve spent the last decade travelling south England sharing my gift, passing on messages. Proving there’s life after death and giving comfort. Impressive for a former agoraphobic! The change did change me!

The officer suddenly vanished Niven calls me ‘the old witch!’
