Photobombed by a spook! Gareth Furness, 39, from Northwich, Cheshire

As the group of ghost hunters shu ed into position in front of me, I raised my camera. ‘Say cheese!’ I said, snapping three Tuick photos.

It was Halloween 0 8 and my colleague -amie

/eicester and I were leading a paranormal investigation at the Park

Hotel in Morecambe, /ancashire. The spooky abandoned hotel is notoriously haunted.

:e always take a few photos of our guests during every event. So, thinking no more about it this time, we carried on with the investigation.

After a couple of hours, the guests were having some free time to use our ghost hunting etuipment. -amie and I took the chance to look through the group photos I’d taken earlier to choose the best one to upload on our team’s Facebook page. But something wasn’t right«

‘There are too many people in this photo,’

-amie said suddenly.

&onfused, we counted the faces in the photo. Sure enough, there was one extra person amongst the group of guests.

=ooming in on the picture, we both gasped with shock. Peering out amongst the line-up of guests was the pale face of a man. His features were misty, translucent. A chill ran through me. Could this strange figure actually be a spirit?

Nobody there

f went up to the guest who was standing in front of the spooky figure in the picture and asked if anyone had been standing behind him at the time it was taken.

‘Absolutely not,’ he replied firmly.

The lady standing next to the eerie apparition was also adamant there had been no one beside her when the photo was taken.

:e even searched the building, but it was empty except for us and the guests.

Even stranger, the creepy figure wasn’t in the other two photos I had snapped within a split second of taking the spooky picture.

Excitement surged through me – the figure in the photo had to be a ghost. And when -amie and I showed the photo to the guests, they all agreed.

Fight death

lne of the guests who was a medium picked up that the spirit was a young man who’d been killed during a fight outside the hotel in the 0s.

:hen we posted the photo online, dozens of comments kept popping up saying what an incredible photo it was. A lot of people were just as blown away by the photo as we were.

I’ve been doing paranormal investigations for years. -amie and I have seen other investigators’ photos of spirits but we never thought we’d capture one ourselves.

&atching a spirit on camera is a one-in-a-million piece of luck. :e feel privileged that it happened to us.
