GET YOURSELF A GODDESS!

-

World mythology is full of powerful goddesses. From Hera to Hella, Kali to the Cailleach, all cultures present very different divine feminine archetypes within their mythology. Such legendary icons are a great place to begin uncovering your own personal mythology. Ask yourself: is there a particular goddess who resonates with you and whom you regard as your patron; does her story hold a special significance for you?

We can help you with that! Every month, Chat it’s

fate features a different goddess in Kirsten Riddle’s ‘The Goddess Report’ on p50. Have any of these fabulous females particularly resonated with you?

This month, Kirsten introduced us to the great goddess Aditi – perhaps her vast creative ability and maternal instinct struck a chord with you? In the past, we’ve looked at Persephone, the goddess of the Underworld, tricked into staying underground with her grim husband Hades for six months of the year, but allowed to return to her mother Demeter for six months, ending winter and bringing spring back to the world. Perhaps you feel drawn to her for her ingenuity and optimism?

Now, does this myth tie in with your favourite fairy tale? Let’s say, for example, that your chosen fairy tale is Red Riding

Hood and your patron goddess is Persephone. Both these stories refer to abduction, betrayal and trickery, so your personal myth would be one of learning to trust your instincts, rather than accepting the friendly prattle of a stranger.
