Also known as K-feldspar, Orthoclase gets its name from the ancient Greek for straight fracture. That explains the two planes at right angles to each other! The crystal’s normally colourless, but can be found in lovely shades of green or yellow. Healers tend to use Orthoclase in meditation, to help emotional turmoil, and that anxiety common to all of us, the fear of getting old. It’s found worldwide, but quality examples come from Baveno and Elba in Italy, Switzerland and the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic.
