Eating a rainbow can help the chakrask
Eat the rainbow is a delightful way of saying eat colourful foods. Oranges, blueberries, spinach – all contain phytonutrients, chemicals that boost the immune system. And, according to holistic nutritionist Zain Saraswati Jamal, rainbow eating can help another invaluable system: the chakras. As each of the seven chakras is associated with a colour, Jamal says that consuming that colour will keep the chakra aligned. Stressed about your house-hunt? Security rests in the root chakra at the base of the spine – red is its colour, so seek out strawberries and tomatoes. Self-conscious about that spot? Your solar plexus chakra may be out of whack. It resides right above your naval and reflects your personal power – its colour is yellow, so munch on a corn cob. And don’t ignore food cravings. If you must have purple sprouting broccoli in your stir-fry, that’s a demand from your third-eye chakra. Probably best to listen, as it’s in charge of inner peace.
