Call waiting
Talk to the dead by phone
What do Michael Jackson, Albert Einstein and Steve Jobs have in common? They’re all members of an A-team of spirits who are working with scientists to create a telephone that can talk to the dead. The Soulphone is being developed by psychology professor Gary E. Schwartz and his colleagues at the University of Arizona. Schwartz’s wife Rhonda is a medium, and she heads up the earthly B-team at UA’S Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health. Via technology such as infrared lighting and supersensitive microphones, the famous spirits have registered their presence and given the project the thumbs up. Sadly, crowd-funding can’t reach beyond the grave, so the Soulphone Foundation (SPF) has put a shout out for financing (www. thesoulphonefoundation.org). With enough money, SPF says instruments like the Soulswitch (where the dead answer yes/no questions to establish identity) could be functioning within a year, with the breakthrough Soulphone following. Soon there won’t be any excuse why you haven’t called Mum.
