W hen you were little, you probably played with dominoes. But for thousands of years, adults have used them for gambling – and fortune-telling. The earliest dominoes are 2,000 years old and herald from China where they’re still used today as a divination method. The Chinese sets have 21 tiles with names like Heaven (for six-six), and Plum Flower (for five-five). But in the 18th Century when the game arrived in Europe, extra blanks were added, which increased the number of tiles to 28.
