In the hands of the angels

Thanks to Merlin, I was clear for take-off Suzanne Lambert, 61, from Newcastle

Just talking about flying made my nerves jangle and butterflies do somersaults in my tummy.

‘It terrifies me,’ I confided to the other people on an angel workshop in July 2005.

So how on earth was I going to fly to Corfu the next day?

Plane phobia

My husband Harry had booked the trip, so we could take our daughter Gemah-louise away for a week on his boat for her 18th birthday. Not wanting to spoil GemahLouise’s excitement, I pretended to take the upcoming flight in my stride. But inside, I was fighting the panic that threatened to engulf me. Despite flying a couple of times when I was younger, at 25 I’d developed a phobia of it. It was so bad, seeing a plane in the sky made terror surge through me. I had dreadful recurring nightmares of spotting a plane in the sky, knowing it was going to crash.

Then I’d watch in horror as the doomed aircraft plummeted to earth.

Merlin energy

The older I got, the worse the nightmare became. It got so bad I was scared to sleep.

Then, one night when I was 40, I dreamt a plane plunged into the sea. I found myself in the water, dead bodies floating around me.

I woke shaking in horror.

A trained past life regression therapist, I knew my fear of flying must stem from a past life trauma.

In a previous existence, had I been killed in a plane crash when I was 25 – the age I developed my crippling phobia in this life? As the day of the Corfu flight loomed closer, I became increasingly more petrified.

‘Please send me a sign we’ll be OK,’ I asked the angels.

That’s why I’d booked a place on the angel workshop. Perhaps they’d find a way to

We were in the safest hands possible Seeing a plane in the sky made terror surge through me
