My mum Sheila, 73, and I have always been close, and when I married Tim, we bought a house on the same street. We were in and out of each other’s homes all the time.

One day, as I stood at the sink, I heard footsteps behind me and felt Mum’s arms encircle me. I said ‘Hello, Mum!’ but she didn’t reply. When I turned around, nobody was there! I ran to Mum’s house and found her on the floor, unconscious. She’d had a stroke. She was rushed to hospital and made a full recovery. But the doctors didn’t understand how I’d known she needed help. They certainly didn’t believe my story that Mum had warned me herself!
