Clever thinking

Cerridwen, the Welsh Goddess had an enchanted cauldron in which she cooked up a powerful potion for her ugly son, Affagdu. She brewed six secret plants for knowledge and inspiration. A boy, Gwion, was ordered to stir it, and as it bubbled, three drops scalded his fingers. He licked them and became wise. But knew the scary Goddess would be mad at him! She turned into a greyhound to chase him and he became a hare, then he was a fish and she an otter, then he was a bird and she a hawk. Finally, she ate him as a hen and he a grain of corn. But that wasn’t the end, for he was reborn as Taliesin, the greatest of bards.
