Ted to safety

show me they’d keep us safe.

At the end of the day our teacher Krystynne held out a bag of crystals.

‘Put in your hand and take one,’ she instructed. ‘The crystal will choose you.’

I pulled out a clear, thumb-sized crystal with a pointed top.

‘That one’s got Merlin energy in it,’ Krystynne smiled.

I handed the crystal round the group.

‘I can see a little plane in it,’ someone gasped.

When I studied the crystal I saw it, too – the shape of a tiny aircraft.

I’d asked for a sign from the angels, and they’d sent me the crystal. It was reassuring – but I was still scared rigid.

Prayed

Waiting at the airport, I felt sick with nerves. And as I got onto the plane, my knees shook.

When the plane took off, I clutched my Merlin crystal, closed my eyes and prayed. ‘The engine’s stopped!’ I panicked when I heard a noise or felt turbulence. Harry and Gemah-louise were embarrassed and pretended they didn’t know me! ‘I’ve never seen you before in my life,’ Harry joked whenever I tried to speak to him. When we landed, relief went through me. ‘I knew Merlin would look after us!’ I told Harry and Gemah-louise. I was still holding the crystal when we got to the marina and our boat. But it was the beautiful yacht moored next to ours that caught my eye. My breath caught as I looked at the name painted on the boat. The Merlin. And its figurehead was a huge, carved sculpture of the famous wizard. ‘Look!’ I gasped to Harry. ‘It is spooky,’ he admitted. I knew it was another sign from the angels.

Tears of joy pricked in my eyes as a feeling of calm washed over me. Then the crystal turned cold.

Angel comfort

That night, Harry and I were below deck when the boat started to rock.

‘Suzanne, The Merlin’s leaving,’ Harry said as he looked outside. I knew it’d waited until I’d got to the marina to give me another sign the angels had been watching me. We had a lovely week in Corfu, but I dreaded the flight home. In the early hours of our final night, our boat started to sway. I looked outside. ‘Wake up,’ I told Harry. ‘The Merlin’s back!’ As it moored next to our boat, I knew it was a sign we’d be safe on the flight home, too. ‘Thank you,’ I whispered to the angels. I’m so glad the angels helped me make GemahLouise’s 18th birthday special. I’ll never forget that amazing moment I saw The Merlin in the marina. It was such a comfort knowing we were in the safest hands possible – the hands of the angels.

I asked for a sign from the angels and they sent the crystal GemahLouise’s 18th was so special
