VERDICT
GUILTY
In April 2015, Merrill ‘Mike’ Kimball, then 72, was found guilty of murdering Leon Kelley. Kimball’s wife Karen broke down in court as the verdict was read out.
In the June, Merrill Kimball was jailed for 25 years. He broke the silence he kept during the trial, apologising to Leon’s family, telling them, ‘You don’t know how sorry I am about this whole mess. I apologise to you. I didn’t know what else to do.’
In April 2016, Kimball appealed his murder conviction, but it was upheld.
