Years on, amanda Spencer was brought to justice – twice…

-

She used the money earned from us to fund her addictions

In May 2014, Amanda Spencer, then 23, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court.

She pleaded not guilty to 16 counts relating to child prostitution against me and three other victims.

Facing Amanda in court to give evidence, I looked her straight in the eye.

She broke down in tears – most probably weeping for herself.

The court heard that she was 16 when she began befriending victims as young as 13, including me.

And she used the money she earned from us to fund her alcohol and drug addictions.

The jury found her guilty of 14 counts of arranging or facilitating child prostitution, and two counts of causing or inciting child prostitution.

Spencer was jailed for a total of 12 years.

‘They were your meal tickets,’ the judge told her, referring to her victims. And he was right. Amanda was never our friend. She just used us, taking advantage of our vulnerability and naivety.

After sentencing, I made it my mission to get justice for some of Amanda’s other victims.

By now, I’d moved away from Sheffield. But I went back and spoke to lots of young girls in the area.

Some of them knew Amanda and confided in me about what she’d made them do.

‘You can’t let her get away with it,’ I told them.

I urged them to go to the police as soon as possible. And some of them must have taken my advice because, in April of this year, Amanda Spencer appeared in court again.

This time she was jailed for three years for four counts of arranging or facilitating child prostitution.

Since then, five men have been jailed for their roles in the sex ring, too, so some justice has been served.

I’m moving on, and I want to forget about Amanda Spencer.

To think I thought she was my best friend!

Slowly, I’m learning to trust people again, but it’s not easy.

I hope Amanda can live with herself for destroying so many innocent lives. She’s scum, and not worth another second of

my thoughts.
