Volunteers urged to sign up to help
A volunteer service which operates across the Chichester and Arun districts is calling on people to offer their help to charities and groups as they begin to reopen and restart.
Many of the volunteers who gave their time before the lockdown are still isolating or are worried about returning to their roles, with many of them part of the vulnerable over-70s group, so helpers are needed to fill the gaps and allow them to start delivering services again.
Jenny Holmes, communications officer for Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester (VAAC), said: “Charities need our help, now more than ever. The virus pandemic has seen them take a double hit since March, with their fundraising efforts being halted, both through the closure of their charity shops and the cancellation of fundraising events, as well as many of their volunteers having to self-isolate or shield themselves.
“Now as charities are starting to look towards trying to return to normal, they need extra support to help them get back up and running.”
