Lions and Robins are looking good for new term

-

Two of our local Southern Combination clubs have been busy securing the services of players for the 2020-21 campaign.

Pagham FC have announced the re-signing of several players for the new campaign, writes Paul Davidson.

Captain Jack Barnes, keeper Connor Kelly, midfielders Joe Clarke, Toby Funnell, Ashley Hawkes, Sam Hickman and Jamie Carroll, defenders Conor Geoghegan, Tom Atkinson and Ryan Hallett and forwards Callum Chalmers, Grant Radmore and Jake Heryet are among those that have committed to the club.

Manager Kerry Hardwell and his coaching team have also returned to the club for the coming season.

Chairman Tony Shea said: “Welcome back everybody. Now all we need is some football!”

The Lions were 14th in the SCFL premier division when the season was brought to a halt in March.

Meanwhile Bosham are looking in good shape for the new SCFL division two season after more than 30 players put pen to paper at a signing-on day – including former club favourite Kieran Hartley.

The mix of current and new players were at Walton Lane on Saturday as Bosham continued a busy summer of off-field activities.

Jim Harris, Bosham’s head coach, said: “The season ahead looks really exciting and promising. We’ve got a squad full of experience and youth, which should enable us to play fantastic football.

“Spectators should expect to see some excellent football this season at Walton Lane.”

One very promising signing was that of Hartley, a former Robin who moved to Chichester City in 2013.

He has committed his remaining playing career to Bosham FC and will add to Bosham’s attacking threat, an aspect that was missing in last season’s campaign.

The club go into the season with six teams - U15s, U16s, U18s, a development team, the first XI and the vets.
