Hardwell hard on Pagham players

-

Pagham boss Kerry Hardwell knows he and his staff are hard on the players. Pagham bounced back from the Hassocks defeat and cruised to a 2-0 win over Horsham YM on Saturday thanks to a Jared Rance brace. But Hardwell believes there is still roomto improve.

He said: “It was a dominant performance at home to Horsham and the pleasing thing for me was the clean sheet and how dominant we were.

“There is still lots of room for improvement and sometimes myself and the coaching staff are hard on this group of players. We know what levels we can hit and in recent weeks we still don’t think we’ve hit those levels of performance like we did at Langney on our first game of the season.

“We still need to be clinical in that box and we still need to be patient with our play for 90 minutes and not 60 minutes.

“The boys really could of gone through more gears in yesterday’s game. Jared Rance scored two great goals yesterday which was great for him he has the ability to score a goal out of nothing.”

The Lions looked comfortably the better side right from the start and both Jamie Carroll and Joe Clarke could have opened the scoring inside the first six minutes.

Rance was on hand on 40 minutes to squeeze as hot between the out stretched fingers of Jeal and the post for 1-0.

Nothing much changed in the second half but ym did manage a few efforts and con or kelly had to be on his mark a couple of times with smart saves. Rance put his side 2-0 up on 70 minutes with a scorcher. Picking the ball up in the Horsham half, he ran at the retreating defenders, twisted inside and smashed home a 25 yard er over the keeper.
