Third cup comeback for Rutherford’s men

Bognor crashed out of the FA Cup as Hayes & Yeading shipped five goals in a very poor second half show from the visitors.

It is a huge disappoint­ment for fans and for a club who made FA Cup headlines with runs to the first round proper in the 1980 sand 1990s but have not got to that stage since. It’s a lost chance of much-needed revenue from Cup prize money.

Rico Greco provided an early threat down the left for the hosts before Harvey Whyte failed to capitalise on a half chance for Bognor.

Bog nor had more chances through Dylan Kierney, Jordy mongoy, Joe cook and will Stone’s but the first half fionished goalless.

Hayes & Yeading took the lead as a corner from Scott Donnelly found Keano Robinson, who headed it beyond Tangara. Bog nor went further behind when they lost the ball deep in their own half and a simple cross along the deck to Greco saw the forward slot it low into the net on 51 minutes.

It got worse for Bognor as a simple through ball reached Francis amartey, who capitalise­d on Tangara rushing out of his area to slot the ball below him and into the net on 65 minutes. Tangara saved a header on 69 minutes but the follow-up by Greco saw him slam the ball high into the net.

More was to come and bognor lost the ball just inside their own half and Donnelly stole the ball before spotting Tangara and finding the net from long distance on 74 minutes. This was a forget table afternoon( full report online ).

Chichester 2, Risborough rangers 1

Second half goals from Kale em ha it ham and lloyd rowlatt gave Chichester a third successive come-back win in this season’s FACUP.

There were three changes to the starting XI that lost to then joint league leaders Whyteleafe last timeout. Rob Hutching sc a me in at left back; Gicu iordache lined upon one of the flanks; and Matt Axell returned to midfield.

The hosts fell behind for the third FA Cup qualifying match in a row in the 33rd minute when Risborough broke on the other wing after the ball was lost in midfield. Wyllie teed up Haule with a measured pass and the No9 tucked the ball beyond Mowthorpe. It was all squareo n 67 minutes as Haitham hauled his side back into the tie with as hot that took a deflection on its way past brooker.

Chichester came at Risborough again and Emmett Dunn sent in an inviting delivery that Jones couldn’t quite reach. The Canadian was instrument­al in the winner breaking into the box before passing to Rowlatt who found the back of the net with a telling touch.

Worthing utd 2 Midhurst 0

Midhurst manager Andy Ewen wants his players to get the basics right following their 2-0 defeat to worthing united.

Goals from Dan Hills and Joe Patching gave the Marvericks the win but Ewen said: “I can except lads having bad games but you can get the basics right and what you can control and that is preparatio­n - trning up with correct attitudes and prepared to workhard for each other.

“We won’t be putting up with it. We’ ve come along way as a club on and off the field and we’re not going back to that.”

Lewis Hyde returned to the line-up for tuesday’s?? to Hassocks in the Senior Cup.

Midhurst travel to Mile Oakon saturday.

Worthing town 1, Bosham3

Despite going down to ten men, Bosham dug deep to end the perfect record for the season, so far, for Worthing Town, with two second half goals eventually settling the score - with the game finishing 3-1.

Ollie Hawkins gave Bosham the lead before Mackenzie Oatway was the man shown his marching orders.

Nathaniel Monk countered to double the lead, before Craig Anderson pulled one back just a minute later. Hawkins then scored with two minutes to go to seal the win.

Bosham boss, Tony Hancock said: “I am very please indeed with the commitment and performanc­e from the team, especially after going down to ten men in the first half. The boys dug deep, Kept playing their football and got the rewards that they deserved.

“Overall a good, hard earned three points and now onto the cup next week and another interestin­g challenge.”

Bosham entertain Sovereign Saints from Eastbourne in the first round of the SCFA Intermedia­te Cup next week.

East dean 1, Southbourn­e3

The Dean started off incredibly slowly and were on the back foot straight away.

The pressure finally took its toll with Southbourn­e going 1-0 up after a mistake in the middle of the park.

An excellent free kick from the left from Jack Millard found its way to the back post to Ben Pett after an excellent leap by james ford caused the goalkeeper to miss the catch. Pett tapped it across the empty goal to an unmarked daniel Richards who headed info ran easy first -and probably last - goal of the season.

After the break the Dean again started slowly but this time they were punished twice.

Defensive errors led to a quick second goal and then an unmarked header from a corner for their third. The Dean never really got back into the game after this.

Manager Joby Oram said after the game: “A very tough day for us two mistakes and set pieces being out undoing. Lots of lesson learnt ready for next week.”
