Change of plan at chamber series
Quarantine issues have forced a change of plan for the next date in the Chichester Chamber Concerts series on Thursday, November 5 at 7.30pm.
Chairman Anna Hill explains: “Alexander Sitkovetsky is booked to play a concerto in Poland shortly before the Chichester date with his trio and he has discovered he won’t be out of quarantine!
“We jiggled and juggled but couldn’t make it work so we will have them another time.
“Instead we have luckily managed to get the young Northern Chords Ensemble who are three soloists who first came together at the Northern Chords Festival in Newcastle Gateshead.
“The pianist, Daniel
Lebhardt, gave a solo recital for CCC in 2017 so we are delighted to have him back with his colleagues Benjamin Baker – violin – and cellist Jonathan Bloxham who is also a conductor and artistic director of the Northern Chords Festival.”
Their programme is: Schubert: Notturno in
E-flat major, Op 148 (D 897); Beethoven: Piano Trio in E flat major, Op 1 No 1; interval; Mendelssohn Piano Trio in C minor, Op 66
In 2016 Benjamin won first prize at the Young Concert Artists auditions in New York and in 2017 third prize at the Michael
Hill Competition in New Zealand.
An acclaimed cellist, Jonathan Bloxham is the recipient of prestigious awards including Guilhermina Suggia Gift and Royal College of Music Cello Prize.
In 2014 pianist Daniel Lebhardt won first prize at the Young Concert Artists auditions in Paris and New York. A year later he was selected by Young Classical Artists Trust in London and invited to record music by Bartók for Decca. In 2016 he won the Most Promising Pianist prize at the Sydney International Competition. As a chamber musician Daniel regularly collaborates with violinist Benjamin Baker and with the Castalian String Quartet
Tickets are available from Chichester Festival Theatre.
The concert will be in the Assembly Room in the Chichester Council House in North Street.
Seats will be limited to 34 at present but there will also be a livestream of the concert.
