Campsite scoops two gold awards
An East Wittering campsite is celebrating after it won three awards in a competition which recognises the best the south east’s tourism industry has to offer.
Stubcroft Farm Campsite scooped gold for Best Camping, Caravanning and Holiday Park at the 2020/21 Beautiful South Awards for the second year running, and also took the top spot in the Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism category – as well as a silver award for Access and Inclusivity.
Managing director Simon Green said: “It has been a difficult year for the UK’S hospitality industry and we are pleased and honoured to win these awards under such circumstances. It has exceeded our wildest expectations.
“I hope these awards will act as a beacon for tourism in the UK and encourage people to support its recovery in the forthcoming year.
“We would like to thank all our staff and customers for making this possible and the Beautiful South team for continuing with the awards in such a difficult year.
“It is a rare and unusual occurrence to win in three separate categories, including two gold awards, but is nice to know that the hospitality industry is not just focussing on quality awards but is also recognising the importance of sustainable tourism to the environment and also promoting accessibility and inclusivity to ensure everyone has the chance to enjoy a relaxing holiday break.”
Run by Tourism South East in partnership with Services for Tourism Ltd, the Beautiful South Awards recognise achievements in the tourism industry over the past year.
The winners were announced in a virtual event ceremony hosted by Andrew Mosely, from The Grand Hotel, Brighton, and Fran Downton, from Tourism South East.
Fran Downton said: “Congratulations to all our finalists. Achieving excellence is not easy, particularly in the year we have just navigated. All the finalists can be extremely proud of what they have achieved. I was blown away by the quality, positivity, and innovation of the tourism businesses we have across the South East. Many of the winners are truly worldclass.”
