Donate bras to help fight against cancer

- Proper local radio from Chichester with Gary Booker

Firstly, I would like to mention that it makes me immensely proud to have the opportunity to write on a regular basis for our local newspaper. You can hear me weekday evenings on V2 Radio as well as on Saturday evenings where we play toe-tapping dance music across the decades. I’m also the man behind the controls at many of our outside broadcast events. I’m a real family man and super proud of my loving family; my wife Jen, and children Rosie and Ronnie. Over the past year, we’ve tried our hands at growing our own fruit and veg, keeping chickens and laid out plans for building our own swimming pool. We have learnt that it’s the simple things in life that count.

When V2 Radio was created with the foundation of doing good for the community. We too have realised that the little things in life can make a huge difference and that’s why rather unconventionally, the view from V2 this week is all about bras – yes ladies, we are after your old and unwanted bras for good reason, please bear with!

Our plan is to encourage ladies across Sussex to donate their spare bras to our network of bra collection points so that we can raise money for the very worthy charity – Against Breast Cancer. It works like this – for every tonne of bras collected Against Breast Cancer receives £700 to fund its research.

The bras go to help support small businesses in Africa. As part of this textile recovery project bras will be given a new lease of life in developing countries such as Togo, Ghana and Kenya, where bras remain too expensive to produce locally.

With your help, we could really make a huge difference. If you want to know where you can drop your old bras off – please pop along to v2radio.co.uk where you will find an extensive list of collection sites near you.

Getting involved with community initiatives and charitable events is ingrained into our DNA at V2 Radio; it’s a huge part of our existence. If you have an event or project that you’d like us to support do come forward and let us know by email at hello@v2radio.co.uk. We can all make a big difference, by relatively small gestures. I very much look forward to meeting you at our outdoor events during 2021
