THE REGIS SCHOOLS AMBITIOUS VISION FOR THE FUTURE

-

One of the most significant responsibilities (and privileges) of being Headteacher of The Regis School is leading the drive and ambition for improvement; part of which is setting the schools vision. When doing this, I considered both the context of the school (the community, the staff and most importantly, the students) as well as my own personal values and professional philosophies. I believe in having high standards and expectations, personal responsibility and the value of discipline but I also believe that school should be exciting, fun and full of opportunity. That said, above all else, I believe in (limitless) ambition and setting your goals high; a mantra we attempt to install in all students and staff at TRS. Having devised the schools ‘vision’ at the end of last term, I was keen to ‘bring the vision to life’ and therefore we commissioned a visual artist to create an eye-catching infographic to reflect the plan and constantly remind us of our common language and shared intentions (see below). I hope you agree with the direction we are ambitiously and determinedly going and continue to support us through this exciting journey.

At the start of term I was extremely proud to formally open ‘The Regis School Hub’; a University-style state-of-the-art IT suite in the centre of the school. Not only is ‘The Hub’ open to students throughout the day and after school, we have decided to open The Hub every Saturday morning, during term time between 9.00-12.00. One of our main motives for opening The Hub at the weekend (supported by members of the school Senior Leadership Team) is to offer all TRS students a quiet IT space to complete homework, revision, assignments etc. other than at home, which for some can hold many distractions. We look forward to all students taking advantage of this unique offer of support.

Dave Oakes, Principal, The Regis School.
