Celebrity concert; meet the Twirlywoos; Chantry Quitre

Bognor Regis Music Club offers a celebrity concert on March 19.

Spokeswoma­n Michela Cocolin said: “Renowned violinist Bradley Creswick and distinguis­hed pianist Margaret Fingerhut return for the first time since 2018 when they performed as part of the club’s 40th anniversar­y celebratio­ns.

“Bradley Creswick has recently been made leader emeritus of Royal Northern Sinfonia after many years of associatio­n. He was awarded an MBE in the 2021 New

Year Honours in recognitio­n of his services to music.

His distinguis­hed career includes leading the London Philharmon­ia Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.

“Margaret Fingerhut has performed extensivel­y as a soloist with some of the world’s most famous orchestras. Her recordings are both critically acclaimed, and award-winning.

“These two wonderful musicians present an exciting programme, including works by Beethoven and Elgar, and Vaughan Williams’s masterpiec­e, The Lark Ascending.

Twirlywoos Live! is heading to the Alexandra Theatre, Bognor Regis on Monday, March 21 and 1.30pm and 4.30pm.

Caroline Bennett at the venue said: “If you don’t know who the Twirlywoos are, you’re probably aged over ten or you are not a parent with young children. But if you do know who they are, the place to go will be Bognor Regis’ Alexandra Theatre on March 21 when characters from the beloved TV show will be live on stage.”

A spokesman said: “MEI Theatrical are delighted to announce that the wonderful world of Twirlywoos – as seen on Cbeebies – will be brought to life on stage. Toodloo, Great Bighoo, Chickedy, Chick and Peekaboo will set sail around the UK in a theatrical adventure.

“Featuring all of the favourite characters from the hit TV show, families can expect mischief, music and plenty of surprises as the Twirlywoos embark on a new adventure on board their Big Red Boat. With beautifull­y inventive puppetry, Twirlywoos Live! promises to be a laugh-out-loud treat for little ones.”

Twirlywoos Live! is brought to the stage by MEI Theatrical, whose recent production­s include Sarah and Duck

Live on Stage (Polka Theatre and UK Tour) and The Very Hungry Caterpilla­r Show (West End). Twirlywoos was first broadcast on Cbeebies in 2015, and in 2017 celebrated its 100th episode. It is cocreated by Anne Wood, who has devised shows including Teletubbie­s, and Steve Roberts, who with Anne cocreated the Bafta-winning

Cbeebies series Dipdap.

Chantry Quire is returning to Boxgrove

Priory, near Chichester, for its annual Passiontid­e Meditation. Spokeswoma­n Carol Frogley said: “Having produced a programme of Passiontid­e music on our website last year due to Covid restrictio­ns, we are looking forward to welcoming a live audience again this year.

This year’s programme will feature the choral version of Pergolesi’s celebrated Stabat Mater, interspers­ed with readings and Marian motets. We will be directed by Peter Allwood and accompanie­d by Chantry Strings. The concert will be raising funds for the Aldingbour­ne Trust, which supports people with learning difficulti­es and/or autism.
