Bognor Regis Twinning Association

-

Social events have been keeping Bognor Twinning Association busy this year.

After a very convivial annual general meeting in the Regis Music School, where Ray Hagger was returned as chairman for the second year, February saw members enjoying games evenings in various houses.

From shuffleboard to Mexican Train, with tasty treats as well, so much fun was had by all that such evenings will definitely be repeated.

In March we were fortunate to have Dave Smith present one of his informative talks. – this time about the 1918 flu pandemic.

Always a tremendously interesting, knowledgeable and engaging speaker, Dave’s illustrated presentation contrasted and also drew parallels between 1918 and recent events.

April saw the return of the very popular Twinning boules tournament.

Spanning several months, various teams will play each other at the boules piste in Hotham Park, until the grand final in August.

And returning after a two-ear hiatus was the local twinning associations’ joint quiz night, once again complete with ploughman’s supper.

Held this year in Felpham Village Hall, 14 teams battled it out under the eye of quizmasters Ric and Sharon.

It was a great success, particularly for the winning team from Angmering!

The next few months will also be full of activities, including a five-day trip to stay with hosts in Bognor’s twin town of Weil am Rhein in Germany.

There is always an action packed programme arranged for us when we get there!

The Bognor Regis Twinning Association is always happy to welcome new members – for more information visit www. bognortwinning.co.uk or call 01243 863225.
