The meeting opened with the President Cheryl Packham, reading a letter from Sage House thanking the members of Rose Green W.I. for the generous donation of £300-00.

The money was raised by holding a summer tea party, an auction organised by the members and the proceeds of the Christmas raffle. Cheryl then reminded everybody about the date of the forthcomin­g May Fair to be held on May the 11th at The United Reform Church in Pagham Road. The Annual General Meeting commenced with a report from the Treasurer, Chris Newman.

At present the funds available are sufficient to pay the hire of the Hall for the forthcomin­g year, however Chris stressed that money raised by the May Fair was critical to our finances. The secretary Maureen Sims read The Annual report.

The past years programme of meetings had been very successful. A lovely variety of speakers and enjoyable activities have taken place. Cheryl in her President’s report thanked members for their commitment to Rose Green W.I. She gave especial thanks to the members of the committee for all their service and effective teamwork. The present committee all expressed they were happy to continue in their existing posts. Cheryl inquired if anyone wished to replace her as President, as there were no nomination­s both Cheryl and the committee were re- elected.

After refreshmen­ts were served, Lee Bolton, who is now in charge of organising craft asked members to indicate what activities they wished to be included for the coming year. Lee then proceeded to demonstrat­e how to make and decorate a gift bag.

Members then had, the opportunit­y to create their own designs. t the end of the evening a wide range of attractive bags were put on display. A warm vote of thanks was given to Lee for organising an enjoyable evening following the AGM. The next meeting is on March 13th at 7.30pm at the Rowland Rank Centre. The speaker will be a representa­tive from the Salvation Army. informativ­e talk by Nick Bailey and wonderful high tea, we now look forward to our next meeting. On Wednesday 13th March Annie Guilfoyle will talk about 'Designing Small Gardens' which is a subject sometimes illustrate­d on TV where a small yard can be transforme­d into a 'jungle' of greenery. The Spring Flower Competitio­n will precede the talk and all are welcome at 7pm in Lavant Memorial Hall. Members free guests £3. We hope members will start sowing seeds ready for the plant Sale in May – lavanthort­soc.org.uk for the 2024 programme and gardening tips. 80-89 years Lightweigh­t Class. Which was 2hours faster than the World record.

The previous world record was held by an American. Well done Sandy .
