Classic American

SLOWLY, SLOWLY...

- Ben Klemenzson, editor bklemenzson@mortons. co. uk

Things appear to be returing to some sort of sense of normality – I went to my first car show of the summer at the weekend, an outdoor event at Capesthorne Hall, near Macclesfield in Cheshire. It was strange in as much as visitors were encouraged to wear masks, despite it being outside, yet probably only about 90% chose to ignore this advice. I would imagine the numbers would be the other way around at an indoor event, such as the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show which is held at the NEC and is still planned to go ahead at the time of writing.

It would seem that people are becoming used to this ‘new normal’ and trying to work around complying with rules and having some semblance of normality. I’ve had to change the way I work, but I’m grateful to still be working, as I know a lot of other people haven’t been so lucky. Despite warnings of a second wave, I think most people now at least feel like we know what we’re dealing with and that hopefully things will improve going forward.

Many of the businesses that advertise in Classic American are still operating and open for business, though some are now more reliant on mail order than face-to-face transactions and I’d encourage you to support them; it really is a case of ‘use it, or lose it’. I know I’ve embarked on a few projects that before now I wouldn’t have had the time or finances for. All those cancelled holidays did have some silver linings after all.
