AIR-COOLED 174CC PARALLEL TWIN, FIVE SPEED, 20BHP, 80MPH, 262LB (119KG), 18IN WHEELS

-

Launched in 1968 as a replacement for the short-lived CB160, this is a first-year model, with the pressed-stee backbone frame that was replaced by a tubular design 1969. It also features the Cb160-style inclined engine 1969-on CL175S adopted the upright engine (as did th roadster CB175S).

Sharing most of the CL160’S engineering, an extra 2mm on the bores was enough to boost the CL160 engine to a full 175. More importantly, though, along with a hike in compression from 8.5:1 to 9:1, it was al enough to give the new model a useful increase in pow from 16.5 to 20bhp. And a five-speed gearbox made better use of that power, too.

The model was available in silver, orange or blue, although this example appears to be a mixture of two the available colour options.
