After just a year, Honda revamped the CL175 completely. For 1969, the model got a single downtube, cradle-type tubular frame and an all new engine, with almost vertical cylinders rather than the inclined barrels of the launch model. And, bringing the styling up to date, the old headlamp nacelle that housed the speedometer was replaced with a separate speedometer and rev counter.

In this guise, the CL175 ran through to 1973 – gaining an electric start in 1970 – when it was replaced by the CL200.
