T he championship line for ’67’ is what Triumph dubbed its catalogue of models offered in the States 50 years ago. In the latter half of the ’60s, the company was on a roll, enjoying high-profile success in American motorcycle sport, so it was no idle boast.
Dave Smith has been far from idle for the last 20 years, too. Apart from a couple of other distractions, in the form of a 1970 Bonnie and a Rickman Metisse with a 500cc Triumph motor, completing the set of 1967 American-market models has held his focus for the best part of two decades.
