Winners of the 2015 Snetterton 4-hour race, SCERT (Steve’s Classic Endurance Racing Team) were among the favourites. “This series has built up a lot since Snetterton and it’s really exciting to be part of it,” rider and team principal Steve Boam said. His co-riders were Steve Clark and Jonathan Lodge, on a Harris XR69 replica chassis housing a 1075cc Suzuki Katana engine bored out to 1170cc. “We have seen 150bhp, but are happy with 140; you’ve got to last the distance.” Mounting a generator behind the cylinders, belt-driven from a pulley on the gearbox sprocket, allows the engine cases to be narrower for cornering clearance. A two-part glue applied to the engine cases an hour and a half before the race worked, as SCERT finished third, four laps behind the winners and on the same lap as second-placed Team Taurus
