Win­ners of the 2015 Snet­ter­ton 4-hour race, SCERT (Steve’s Clas­sic En­durance Rac­ing Team) were among the favourites. “This series has built up a lot since Snet­ter­ton and it’s re­ally ex­cit­ing to be part of it,” rider and team prin­ci­pal Steve Boam said. His co-rid­ers were Steve Clark and Jonathan Lodge, on a Har­ris XR69 replica chas­sis hous­ing a 1075cc Suzuki Katana en­gine bored out to 1170cc. “We have seen 150bhp, but are happy with 140; you’ve got to last the dis­tance.” Mount­ing a gen­er­a­tor be­hind the cylin­ders, belt-driven from a pul­ley on the gear­box sprocket, al­lows the en­gine cases to be nar­rower for corner­ing clear­ance. A two-part glue ap­plied to the en­gine cases an hour and a half be­fore the race worked, as SCERT fin­ished third, four laps be­hind the win­ners and on the same lap as sec­ond-placed Team Tau­rus
