Coming up sumps

Jonathan Holmes emailed to say he once bought a Combat Commando engine that had had the sump pickup modified (Fixes June) but although the original hole had been plugged, the baffle in the opposite crankcase that blocks the new hole hadn’t been removed, so the sump filled until oil overflowed onto the rear tyre. He’s heard of others like this – that said, the Andover Norton link I supplied does explain the full procedure.
