DIFFERENCE SPOTTED

-

You asked for comments on Kees Hoekstra’s changes to the new Royal Enfield Interceptor (Letters, January).

I noticed several changes. Of course, the cylinder block has been tilted upright; the front wheel is bigger and the headlamp and instruments have been raised; the Moto Guzzistyle lip on the petrol tank has been removed; the oil cooler has been lowered; the horn has been hidden (from the side) and the exhaust is less curved; the piggy-back on the damper has changed colour and the indicators removed; finally, the grab rail behind the seat and the mirrors have been removed and the tail lamp changed.

I like the bigger front wheel and would like flatter handlebars. I see no reason to change the Commando-style tilted cylinder block. I would not use a bike without mirrors and indicators.

I prefer the ‘official’ Interceptor, but I respect the fact that Kees Hoekstra has his opinion and that he gets the opportunity to present his ideas in CB. OLE K CHRISTENSEN, DENMARK
