BEEZA GEEZER

I have subscribed to CB for over 20 years and was especially interested in December 2017’s ‘Speed Issue’, as this is an area that I have pursued for 11 years. Along with a few others, myself and my friend/pilot Mike are the standard bearers of the BSA brand in the small world of land speed records here in the eastern USA. We race at Loring, Maine on a former SAC airbase runway. The course length is 1.5 miles with about a ¾-mile shutdown. My bikes are both 1966 BSA A65s; one is a Hornet that runs in the modified/gas class. The past several years have seen a renewal of the old BSA v Triumph battle. We were on top with a 125mph-plus speed. The next year a Triumph beat us at 128 mphplus. The off-season saw lots of headscratching and fiddling which resulted in an awesome speed of almost 132! Last season saw Mr. Triumph knuckle down to achieve a speed of 133.1 and us with a broken motor and oil on our shoes. So, this winter’s project is to rebuild and go out again in hopes to unseat the mighty Triumph!

The other bike is also a 650 and we are running in the Modified Partial Streamlining Blown Fuel class. We’re running on nitrous and results to date are 159mph with carbs and nitrous, and 162.555 with turbo and nitrous. We are aiming for higher speeds.
