FLAT OUT TO FLAT TRACK

This is me with my BSA B50SS, CRU 85L; it was stripped down and tuned with an MX camshaft and fitted with a CCM four-speed gearbox. The picture was taken in autumn 1980 as I was preparing to ride from Bournemouth down to Exeter race course to see Kenny Roberts and Dave Aldana at a Britain vs USA flat-track event. They were fantastic, stealing the show with top dirt track skills on show.

The bike ran well, with no problems – amazing really, as it still ran on points and Lucas capacitor ignition!
