Fine collection of Japanese classics heads up early entries to sale at NMM
H&H Auctions have consigned an impressive 89 machines to their October sale at the National Motorcycle Museum. They include bikes from a private collection that really tap in to the recent growth in interest in lightweight Japanese machines.
All being offered with no reserve, the collection includes a quartet of sports mopeds: two Yamaha FS1-ES (1976 and, ’77), a 1975 Honda SS50 and a Suzuki A50K. Then there’s a trio of 250s: a 1979 Honda CB250N Superdream, a 1981 Suzuki X7 and a 1982 Kawasaki KH250. All are well restored and the collection also includes a varied selection of bigger-bore bikes from a 1980 Yamaha RD350LC up to a 1979 Suzuki GS1000.
Another highlight is a one-owner 3085-mile 1987 Suzuki RG500 (above). It comes with an extensive history file and has undergone Suzuki’s recall work to second and sixth gear, forks and carburettor updates. The exceptional timewarp machine is estimated at £19,000-22,000.
The sale has something for everyone, with a large collection of (mainly) Italian bikes going under the hammer. We featured some of the collection in CB in October 2020 and there are some gems, including a sensational 1965 Ducati Elite estimated at £5500-6500 and a readyto-ride 1986 Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica (£17,000-18,000). There’s some classy Brit iron too, including a superb matching-numbers 1938 Brough Superior SS100 (£180,000-200,000), formerly owned by VMCC founder Titch Allen.
There should be over 150 bikes offered on what looks like being another busy day for H&H. handh.co.uk
